Liverpool Jews

Liverpool was home to one of the first organised Jewish Communities in the North .

In 1750 ,Jewish families ,shop keepers and dock workers ,set up homes on the site of Canning Place Customs House in the Docklands of the City.

The history and creativity of Jewish people can be found in all areas of Liverpool life.Jews inspire the arts and the professional world of law, academia , science and medicine .A visit to Walkers Art Gallery will introduce you to the paintings of Solomon Joseph Solomon.His  great Victorian painting –   Samson (1887 ) hangs above the main staircase of the Walkers .
